Pros

The only pro was the fact that you can do your own waxing for free during downtime.

Cons

The company is run terribly. They don't do anything to honor valuable, loyal customers however anytime someone makes a petty complaint clearly trying to get a freebie, management bends over backwards for them. That makes a waxers job very challenging. The particular location I worked for has terrible management with no control over the staff, and doesn't listen to or respect any ideas or suggestions from employees. The place is run like a dramatic sorority house. The commission is 5% on services which is absolutely unheard of, and their suggested gratuity signs are very low. The front desk is constantly screwing up the book and pissing off clients, affecting the tips and customer loyalty, and they don't care because it doesn't affect their paycheck. And of course management expects you to work crazy hours and nothing is ever good enough. Save yourself the drama and stress and work anywhere but here!

Pros

You can make good money if you try (i got payed $9.00 per hour plus tips and commission) , easy to get hired at(they didnt even give me a real interview, i sent them my resume and they met with me to ask what days i could come for training) , payed training(only at some locations) , good commission (10% retail, 5% services), lots of down time

Cons

SO unorganized (manager would text me when to come in for training, then when i would go she would say they forgot i was coming so there was no one to train me), had me doing bikini waxes before they trained me how which lead to many unhappy customers, no set schedules (they would text me the day before saying i had to work tomorrow). One morning they sent me a text asking why i wasnt there and i said because no one told me to work that day. I tried to tell them how unprofessional they were being and she said "they're too busy running a fortune 500 company" and then they never texted or called me to work again so i guess i was fired. you have to buy scrubs, shoes, and special expensive tweezers before you can start, no opportunitys to advance.

Pros

Meeting other estheticians to learn waxing techniques from. Because of the high volume, you do learn how to be more comfortable with waxing all areas. Working at European Wax Center is more of a 'means to an end.' Good for right out of school or for a first time waxer.

Cons

The bad part of working here is mainly the pay. Lots of work for very little money. Pay is $8 + 5% commission on services + 16% of product sales + bonus. The disappointing part about being an employee here is the inability to achieve any of the bonuses. They created the bonuses based on completing a certain number of service dollars in a time period. The bonus is not achievable based on the number of hours you are allowed to work in the pay period. Even at 100% booking, you cannot meet these numbers since the work week the owner/managment based them off of is a 40 hour work week, and full-time employees max out at around 30 booked hours. Knowing that your employer is making a lot of money based on the services all waxers are completing, and knowing that they only actually pay you about $10/hr with no benefits (when you're doing about a minimum of $160/hr + in services) is pretty disappointing. Also, once the waxers on the books have reached about 50% of booking, they add new waxers. So there is never really an opportunity to be completely booked. The average salary caps at around 35k/yr and that is including tips.
