Pros

Lots of friendly smart people.

Cons

Poor Executive leadership and strategic planning. Quarterly pivoting to new strategy. Lack of control of product of product costs, making it difficult for partners to buy product. Most Bureaucratic company with which I have ever worked. They are more like a consulting company than a product company interested in generating revenue. Very difficult to get things done.

Pros

Many individual contributors work their proverbial fingers to the bone far past their expected hours to support each other however they can.

Cons

Many individual contributors instead treat each other like dirt and it is accepted by leadership and C Suite as just another fact of 'Start Up life' in a company that has no right still saying it is a start up. Benefits for a company in the health cate space LOOK good at first glance until you dig in and/or need more than minimal care. They claim to care about DEI but when someone has an issue that inconveniences them none of that matters. Taking advantage of the person next to you however possible is not just accepted, but encouraged by some leaders. Doesn't follow all applicable employment laws in all states where their employees reside. Layoffs are done with ZERO common sense, leaving crucial teams decimated, and destroying morale of many remaining team members if they have not just gine numb. HR regularly gaslights you, refuses to answer any questions you ask in writing so you have no paper trail for any important issues. Do yourself a favor- if you are applying and reading this, don't just think, oh, this is just one disgruntled former employee - that's what I did and it has set my professional career back years now and cost me tens of thousands of dollars, but because they are so good at not putting anything in writing I have little to no case. I was also massively lowballed ($ about $20k annually lower than the initial job listing) initial offer, but they knew I was stuck, so took advantage of me.

Pros

Most of the people are respectful, knowledgeable and enjoyable to work with.

Cons

Remote leaders leading larger on site teams creates confusion. Creates a “you do what I say” culture and a culture heavy (heaviest I’ve ever seen) in micromanagement. No trust in experts and team members leads to demotivation. Some executives still think Machiavellian leadership is popular and rudely bark orders from the safety of their at home offices - akin to internet trolls. Doesn’t work for a clinical laboratory setting AT ALL. Remote leaders gradually become out of touch with the reality of leading actual humans face to face. Unrealistic expectations with regards to overtime with many teams members having 20-30 hours PER WEEK of overtime during busy times. Incentives are given however time from the people that actually care about you can’t be bought back. Team is repeatedly asked to work overtime and due to unpredictable workload and shoddy forecasting, The schedule can change daily during peak business creating issues for those with obligations in their personal lives.
