Pros

The Arlington, VA office is state-of-the-art modern with all kinds of perks like treadmill desks, a gym, fully-stocked staff kitchen with snacks and soda, and open floor plan. The general attitude is "do what you want as long as you get your work done" so there is a lot of flexibility on hours and working from home. You get 25 days of paid time off to use however you want plus 10 federal holidays. It's a pretty young, vibrant office with a lot of recent graduates and a lot of big ideas. The company seems to be in a good position for growth within the health care industry so I would expect things can only get better.

Cons

A lot of positions are not well defined and there seems to be some duplication of roles. There are way too many management positions and not enough people "on the ground." Management styles are hit or miss and in 6 months I've had three different managers. Some really micro-manage and others are totally hands off. Training is not consistent across departments and offices. Procedures seem to change every day and sometimes it feels like everyone is struggling to make sense of what they're supposed to be doing because there is not a lot of direction from management and there are a lot of communication issues. I have a hard time explaining what I do and what the company does to other people. There has never been a consistent message regarding the vision and operation of the company and as a relatively new hire I would have expected some sort of company-wide "elevator pitch" in training.

Pros

Evolent offers a face paced open communication environment that is unique to the healthcare industry. The career growth feels limitless and the benefits are market leading. I joined the company in early stages as employee number 32 and have enjoyed working with the top talent the company continues to attract.

Cons

I would not recommend it for people who are not open to change and enjoy having structured days.
