Incompetance Encouraged

Pros

New building, used to be able to work remote 100% (now have to be onsite at least 3 days per week).

Cons

Many employees have been with Expedia for a very long time and have a very low skill set. They are then put into positions with very little or no experience. Management doesn't mind since most of them are incompetent as well, and it's the blind leading the blind. Whenever they want results, they pay top dollar for consultants to tell them how to do their jobs.

Pros

Great benefits and base salary. However, 401K matching program is very weak and you have a 2 year vesting period before 20% of your employer match actually kicks in - this wasn't communicated when I was onboarding, which there really wasn't any. The people are generally nice and for a good amount of people, there seems to be good work life balance.

Cons

Restructuring & layoffs every other week. Lots of folks on the leadership team lack empathy and emotional intelligence when it comes to managing through challenging times like layoffs.
