Pros
The projects are amazing, but the people are why you’d stay. I get to work every day with the best team in Louisville. The job is very fast paced, and sometimes that is too much for people. But if you enjoy a little stress, thrive on being challenged, and are looking for opportunities to grow, Extell is for you. There are few accounting jobs in Louisville, KY where you have the opportunity to work with a team in UT on a project that will be shaping the future of a mountain, visit and work on one of the largest residential towers in the world, and see your projects every time you see a skyline shot of NYC. In the past four years, the company has taken the entire Louisville office to NYC for two different events. One was the Extell Olympics, where we competed in feats of endurance and strength such as giant jenga, badminton, 5 on 5 basketball, bowling and many others. The entire evening was filled with fun and camaraderie. The other and more recent trip was for a Yankees game in a private suite. Both trips included numerous tours of the buildings for all the team members and were truly amazing experiences. Companies that don’t care about their employees do not send 40-50 people on trips purely to build and improve company culture.
Cons
Very deadline driven, which can be difficult for some to manage. Constantly evolving projects, new projects being acquired, and the continued improvement of internal procedures means that there can be a lot of changes from year to year. While not for everyone, it usually means the days fly by and I am constantly learning.
