Pros

Boring, simple work. You’re a glorified technical support. You learn customer service skills and how to speak over the phone. Coworkers are usually friendly and helpful.

Cons

Poor middle management and HR. The middle management was probably the most incompetent workers I am working with. Little or no raises. Even worse when inflation is high, you are essentially getting a pay cut if your raises are lower than inflation rates. Unless you have a passion for AV, you are really limiting your skills as an engineer the longer you stay here. —to the point where you might get stuck. Pro tip: Threaten to leave with a job offer from another company to get a promotion or raise. Otherwise, they will try to give you the bare minimum.

Pros

Great starter job. Excellent co-workers. Only need to work 40 hours/week. No need to work overtime nor motivation to give more than what is minimally required to do the job. High salaries are the main motivation to stay with the company.

Cons

Dead end job. No realistic opportunities to advance after 3-4 years. No willingness from management for interdepartmental transfers nor proactive career advancement.
