Old fashioned company experience

Pros

Extron seems to pay at or above the market for salaries in key positions (ie engineering). The company seems to be very stable and profitable but the owner and management never give details on the state of the company. You can assume since they are hiring, it is doing well. Some positions in the company can be rewarding and challenging and others are just a grind, especially with all the rules and regulations handed down by HR.

Cons

Many of the negative reviews on this site have truth to them. This can be a difficult place to work due to the old fashioned company culture. There were no incentive based rewards (no profit sharing, bonuses greater than $150/year) when I was there; you can only expect to collect a salary. Management seems to be restricted in all aspects due to the central control of HR.

Pros

Decent, not great, pay and benefits. Some really fun cellmates. Not much else.

Cons

Where to Begin? I will try to stay as objective as possible. First off, the claim that management asks its employees to post positive reviews on glassdoor is 100% true. How can anyone trust a company that does that? So take the positive posts with a grain of salt. Secondly let me verify the many claims people have posted on here: - You punch in/out for lunch even as a salaried engineer - True - HR rules with an iron fist and enjoys firing employees -True - Most employees are in a state of constant fear - True - You have to notify the "team leader" of all your bathroom breaks - True and degrading - The holiday luncheon is mandatory - False, I've known a few people who missed and lived to tell about it. - Fresh ideas and creativity is stifled - True - Old fashioned company culture - True - High employee turnover - Very True - Lack of a career path - True - this is a place to get a job not build a career! I worked here many years and finally realised there was no room for advancement. You really have to leave if you want your career to grow. This company started out as a small business run with an iron fist and just a few employees, unfortunately it has not progressed beyond that mentality. My advice: If you need the money and work, take the job and continue to look for something else. If you can financially handle it, I would recommend passing on any offers.

Pros

The only pro I can think of was that the salary was decent.

Cons

-Prison environment -Cameras everywhere (and yes they can see when you go to the restroom) -You must badge in and badge out everyday -If you are a woman and looking for a company to grown and soar at - this is not the place! Very few women get promoted here. It's definitely a "mans" company -I was verbally attacked by a manager in front of my own boss and he did NOTHING about it. -The Sales uniforms are god awful! And if you wear the wrong color khakis with the uniform you will get in trouble. -The raises/merit increases are a joke. -If you don't go to the holiday luncheon that is literally right before Christmas (which a lot of people travel during this time to visit family) you will get fired. - The dress code is "business casual" yet the president and his best buddy that runs the Raleigh location wear jeans all the time - way to set an example!
