Pros

Hands on latest technology and development in AV induxtry

Cons

1. Work load is not balanced. Some team members are loaded while other have minimum contributions 2. Micromanagement and public disciplining is the way to control the team. 3. Management is never at fault, and it is always the individuals mistake if their is a customer complaint. 4.Swipe in/Swipe is in place 5. Almost no space to move up. First promotion requires minimum 5 years, no matter how good you perform 6. During performance review, the ideal line is " Company is not doing as good as last year, be happy you have a job". 7. Forced to do little overtime everyday with no compensation 8. Leave of absence is not guaranteed even though vacation hours are accrued. 9. No team events for team building whatsoever 10. Management people cannot go on lunch with team members (Company policy)

Pros

Many employees are good and descent people, you just don’t know who to trust. Regular M-F hours Health insurance options are nice, this should weigh into your decision, yet you can’t ask in your interview!

Cons

HR- hands down the reason this company struggles to hire the best people and retain them. Intimidating relentless and not looking out for employee welfare. Ability to misconstrue every conversation email message looking to VPs - seem to have a god complex. Company is tyrannically run and micromanaged making for a very hostile work environment. Time clocks and strict adherence to meeting and exceeding 80 hours. Employees so worried they keep track themselves so they are not called in to discuss performance No advancement opportunities so most people look to put in a few years and leave

Pros

- Work/Life balance is easily maintained. Honestly, there aren't defined career paths so you can clock in and tune out everyday if you want. Hiring from within comes and it's unreal when you experience it first-hand. - No competition. Extron dominates the market and until that changes, there will be no impetus for reform. - You don't need any real previous experience to work here - in fact that's a plus for HR for reasons listed in Cons. - Mandatory training is free - but failure is instant termination. The training material contains regular contradictions and any concerns/questions are treated as hostility. Tread carefully.

Cons

- Everything you read is true. When I accepted the position, I didn't think the HR policies would apply to engineers... and was sorely mistaken. There are so many legends about HR policies that half of the fun of working there was finding the workers who'd worked for 10+ years and getting to know the gossip. - 100% of junior engineers have no previous working experience. This facilitates the bizarro culture. Exclusively hiring from within furthers the cause, but even after working in the company for 5+ years, advancement is dependent brown-nosing. - I wasn't given a reason for being let go (legal reasons?), but this is what I can recall being brought up in prior performance reviews: ----Forgot to clock in 2 times in the same week. ----Not clocking in and out to use the restroom. ----Using smart phone to answer work emails, while at work. You read that right. ----Emailing the training course instructor without explicit managerial permission. ----Having a beard (and not a goatee)
