Pros

Good Salary, Shares, Pension / Good shift system / Subsidised BUPA

Cons

Promised good training schemes but after the 3 months training school zero training support shown by Unit. Very "Old school" in way of "Training" on units and too many unapproachable "Leaders" when trying to learn. As a qualified operator I've witnessed many safety failures & poor management decisions against the company wide preaching on safety standards. Talking a good game and seeing what's reported doesn't mean success with building a safe working environment, or at least as safe as possible in this industry. There's a one rule for one and another rule for others that "Play the game." Teams can be extremely two faced and lots of back stabbing is done, then we feel we cannot approach our supervisors because "That's the way it's always been." Then why the hell are ExxonMobil employing people from different backgrounds? What's the point if their views are not listened too or cared about? How do things improve and move forward with all the above going on? BUT we stay because we get a good salary and hope we don't get targeted by bully supervisors willing to turn a blind eye to those they have know for so long. Career progression seems to be on time served and if your face fits (plays the game) rather than best person for the job, as mentioned, there's some seriously bad supervisors without any leadership or management skills (yes, there is a difference) which should never be in their roles. They need training on this before taking such positions, especially if supervising teams!!!
