Pros

Culture was changing for the better, but after I left, I've heard people are overworked and culture and flexibility / work life balance policy implementation went backwards. This note is current as of 2Q24. Decent pay. Some great managers are still there.

Cons

Ranking process if flawed and creates a mentality of throwing people under the bus to help elevate themselves. Not conducive to a "working together" and "giving credit" environment. Many great people are promoted, but often times the wrong people are promoted for the wrong reasons; unfortunately management often sees only one side of a person and not necessarily how they run or treat their team. Some Supervisors / Managers really believe that the ranking process is the "one" time they get together to discuss your accomplishments; and many don't event follow up on feedback hence making their own assumptions on how to interpret it. When I was in a first time supervisor role, I followed up on all feedback; often times the person I talked to said, "This is the first time in 10 years that someone has actually asked about the feedback I provided on another employee; I was wondering if it even got looked at." Managing a team is also leading a team and involves constant touch points with ALL of your team, not just the ones you get along with well or that are 2 offices down. If EM could get this right, promote the right people for the right reasons, and get their policies up to date to enhance employee well-being in conjunction with work, they could be a great company.
