HR is Imploding

Pros

Benefits, large international company, several good mid-level HR leaders, smart hard working employees

Cons

Four years ago the HR department was a good place to work, with smart and hard working employees. Sadly the new leadership has destroyed morale and we have lost a lot of extremely talented individuals (just filter on HR and sort by newest reviews). This has left many people working 2 or more jobs. Our good employees are actively looking and we no longer can attract the same caliber of talent.

Not a place for growth

Pros

- Benefits (Health Care, 401k, etc) - Low technical performance expectations - Easy to keep employment

Cons

- Strategy to decrease US workforce - You will only find career progress in a management role - Conformance valued over performance - Politics and blind objectives around costs drive decision making - Technical skill atrophy (you will be required to work on or design technology in ways that don't make sense anywhere) - Lack of leadership (Titles mean nothing - view career path of Enterprise Architects on LinkedIn - no technical skills required) You will be working for an organization that is focused on perception and conformance above performance. Cultural fears to admit poor decision making; can't admit poor decisions (hubris). Highly pain in processes (think government processes). Politics runs the organization instead of being something that helps smooth relations between groups.
