Pros

I've spent all my career in the Upstream, I've heard Downstream and Chemicals can be quite different: Excellent pay and benefits, including pension Lots of challenging assignments Frequently move to different positions Many international assignments for those that want it Excellent early career training and career development tracks / planning

Cons

New assignments and assignment locations are decided without enough input from employee Rankings are not transparent and often lead to bad attitudes by lower rankers Work/life balance can be very challenging; those that want to rank high typically work a lot of hours Moving up the ranks within the company requires willingness to frequently relocate which can be difficult for those with families

Thanks for the feedback. We have a number of great workplace flexibility programs to help balance work and life without requiring the structure of the 9/80 program.

Pros

Great pay and personal development. If you are interested they move you to a different position every couple of years so you don't get bored.

Cons

You need to find a champion if you want to climb the ladder. Houston wasn't a good location for me. I had a boss in a different country and that proved difficult.

Thanks for the feedback. Sorry Houston did not work out. The city is rapidly changing and improving while maintaining a low cost of living thanks to the growth of the US energy sector.

Pros

Challenging work, excellent compensation, high-cailber coworkers, proven track record of performance, many employee development opportunities, global business provides opportunity to work with diverse cultures. strong senior leadership

Cons

High level of structure, need to be comfortable in such an environment; do not celebrate success often but rather continuously focuses on the next problem
