Pros

Good benefits (Medical, vacations, car plan) Good training available , you just need to ask You can have a stable job Good company policies Informative talks and training available for non-job related topics (self defense) Safety is first

Cons

You don't need to be great (or even good) at your job to grow within the company. You just have to wait (years) and be an average employee. .... At least at Exxon Mobil Mexico Hard to move forward if you are a woman Not the best work environment Work load distributed unevenly within a department Senior managers don't follow most policies

Pros

Strong emphasis on workplace safety culture, good business controls

Cons

- Unfair and ruthless forced ranking process; on paper should be performance driven but like all human controlled activities get subject to office politics of senior executives to settle scores or 'perceived threats' - Military-like workplace environment where that espouses only the top down approach Absence of 360 degree feedback - A very evident double standard in faster career development of HQ country (US) employees compared to employees from other parts if the world especially Asia and Africa (much slower) - Reduced emphasis on training / technical development of employees - Limited opportunity of career development

Pros

1. Terrific exposure to a variety of business matters. Being such a massive organization, the scale and complexity of business projects you are involved with is very exciting especially if you are situated in one of the more dynamic APAC offices. 2. High quality training opportunities are present... (if you can find the time to make these happen) 3. Surrounded by many colleagues who have impressive analytical and project management capabilities. 4. The organization has high levels of business ethics and commitment to the community.

Cons

1. Bureaucracy in getting things done. This is a conservative company with a higher level of risk tolerance than others, and as a result the culture and mindset of employees tends to be like this too. You may find yourself having to seek an unending number of internal stakeholder checks and approvals for a seemingly straightforward matter. 2. Matrix reporting structures do bring about their fair share of hard work in navigating, especially in such a large organization.
