Pros

Great pay and benefits. Really very easy work. Actually too easy. I felt like I was doing the same thing over and over again and not learning.

Cons

Very political environment. If you don't value the environment and believe that oil will never be challenged by other fuels, you'll be fine. If you have an open mind you are going to have a tough time in this culture.

Pros

Some of the best Benefits and Salary in the industry (and entire private sector).

Cons

Very cut throat. "UP or OUT" mentality. You're ranked against your peers and the bottom 15-20% are pushed out the door. No work/life balance at all. Be ready to work 50+ hours per week.

Research freedom relatively high compared to other industries & competitors High caliber colleagues (technically and morally) Safest place on earth Very stable

Cons

Ranking process is highly political, not based on performance or impact Pay is 'just enough to keep you' according to Senior Management Employees not valued by management No good locations (e.g., Houston, Houston, Houston)
