I’ve created such bonds with the students I work with. They are, for the most part, respectful, responsive, and a joy to be around. There are the students who come because their parents make them, but we’ve reached a space of understanding where they are truly getting something from me and the curriculum every class.

Cons

There is poor communication on nearly every front, and as an Instructor, I don’t get to interact with parents at all. Every issue I have in the classroom has to go through my employer and they decide if it will be communicated to the parent. I also get little to no notice for cancellations, make-ups, or new students, which makes preparation and time allocation very difficult. I’m still a human, and it’s hard to not let the imbalance or shock affect my teaching. Additionally, I have expressed all of this and it was met with dismissal, despite the other instructor agreeing with me.
