Pros

I'd been looking for a role for 5 years, and not succeeded. FDM recognised my potential and took me through their intensive 7 week "Back to Business" programme in Glasgow, which gave really useful training, confidence building, and repeated interview practice. At the end of the seven weeks I had a successful interview, and two weeks later I'm in a role I enjoy with a great client. I wish I'd found FDM years ago.

Cons

Pay and benefits aren't the best, but I expect I'll probably transition to a permanent role with the client after 2 years, so only a minor issue for me

Pros

I was placed on a contract at a good company.

Cons

You can be placed literally anywhere in the UK with less than a weeks notice. Company does not care for its employees, just its margins. The pay is not relative to the position you could be placed in and thus, I ended up vastly under paid. After being relocated, I was given 2 weeks to find my own accommodation. As this was not possible, due to demand in the area, I had to fight for an extension to stay in a hotel. You are forced to do time reporting each week, which has to be signed off my a line manager. This just screams lack of trust in employees and is a sheer waste of time. The training and trainers are overall pretty poor unless you already have some expertise, which defeats the purpose of their training programs.
