      ex forces about to start 3rd year

      Pros

      Initial training was well supported and taught. The Instructors and office staff are supportive when approached. Most of the other trainees and beached consultants are friendly and happy to help out if needed. There is plenty of opportunities to study (up skill) in other areas. I trained as a Manual tester and during my period back in the office i sat in on the Developers course as well as several over courses. The ex forces team in the office were very supportive and helpful with any questions or problems that i have had. I personally think you get out of FDM what you are prepared to put in. After sitting in with the developers course i was placed as an Automated tester with a Blue chip company. The Sales team took in to account my preference to be close to my family and i was in the office longer than normal due to this even tho i had a couple of interviews out side of this area. I have received good support whilst placed and know that if i have any questions or problems i can contact the office anytime.

      Cons

      Salary is low and you have to be geo flexible in the UK

      It's an excellent way to start off your career in the industry if you have no prior experience before graduating.

      Cons

      Administration and consultant support is not their strong point.

      I have worked for FDM for several years now and I am so glad I chose to join the company. I am not from an IT background however joined FDM to train and make a career for myself in Software Testing. I have worked for some of the world's biggest banks, Insurance brokers and retails outlets in various different capacities. I have travelled the globe and worked on some amazing and innovative projects over the years which would not have been possible without the training and opportunities FDM provided me with. The money is good and once you have a few years experience it gets even better with opportunities arising in Team lead/Managerial positions enabling you to take your career to the next level.

      Cons

      Not really a con however you need to be geographically flexible with in the UK. (You are told this several times throughout your assessment centre so this did not come as a surprise). If you want to go further afield you can ask to be considered for roles aboard and I know of people being placed in Hong Kong, South Africa, Canada and Australia recently.
