Thanks for taking time to leave a review. We're enjoying our new building and all of the amenities it has here in Des Moines. We're sorry you don't share the same passion for Central Iowa that we have. But, we sure hope you'll reconsider and give Des Moines another chance.

Company Values are Important

Pros

Enjoyed working with most employees, benefits are good but not competitive with current times. Pay is good. Great training for new employees.

Cons

Leaders of the company do not demonstrate the values. Yell at people in front of others, don't hold all accountable for bad behavior or not doing their jobs. Almost more contractors than employees so hard to know who you are working with. Company culture and values are hard to determine as there are contractors who are making decisions, acting like they run the place, and are not made to uphold the stated company values. Ex. there are two in communications that are very rude, hard to work with, its their way or no way, and do not demonstrate the values of the organization and don't have to as they have been there longer than some employees and appear to be able to do whatever they want.

Thanks for sharing your observations and thoughts. Our core values are our foundation here at the Bank. I’d love to say that every employee and leader gets it right 100% of the time, but that would be untrue. We realize that people make mistakes. Our approach is to discuss those issues, provide leadership and coaching and ultimately live our values well. I would encourage you – wherever you’re working at – to say something if you see situations that aren’t consistent with the company’s values. The Bank has several ways for employees or leaders to say something if they see something. I’d invite you to contact me directly, if you feel comfortable. My open door policy is the same whether you’re employed here or not. While it’s true we use contractors and vendors to support our operations in short and long-term capacities, the number of contractors is far less than our 350 employees. It’s also important to note that contractors are not employees. Legally, that’s an important distinction. But, regardless of the terms of their contracts, we expect all of our contractors to respect and uphold our values. Thanks for sharing your talent with the Bank. I wish you all of the best in your career. Nancy Betz, Chief HR, Administrative and OMWI Officer, FHLB Des Moines
