Pros

Limitless growth opportunities for the chosen few. There are a lot of good people working there but only the very few are recognized over and over and over again. It's like a good-ole-boys-club.

Cons

If you're not one of them then you'll never really belong. People in the South like to congregate with people like themselves it's boring. Do not try to offer a different opinion or point of view or different style it is more likely to get you fired than recognized. Do not offer suggestions for improvement of code technique either or you will get fired. This company believes it is on the cutting edge but they are years behind.

Ambitious but confused tech company...

Pros

It is a reasonably successful tech company in one of the best cities in the south.

Cons

There have been recent layoffs and reductions in pay and benefits, so job security is an issue. There also isn't a lot of opportunity to advance your career within the company without breaking the chain of command. Don't expect pay raises. There are also problems with morale, but this likely has more to do with simultaneously laying off people and slashing pay and benefits. Despite talk regarding training and development of staff, it rarely happens for developers except among a special chosen few - I am unsure as to whether this is due to nepotism or not. And despite what management might think, developers are undervalued and underpaid.
