Pros

The Senior Managing Directors in the Forensic and Litigation Practice are top notch. Many of them have families and understand when time off is needed for personal obligations. I also recommend FTI for the quality of jobs and clients that the firm gets in NYC as well as the varied backgrounds and expertise of Directors, Managing Directors and Senior Managing Directors. For the most part, the attitude is about getting things done efficiently and well for client, meaning that face time isn't required and for those that do a good job, lots of flexibility is granted. Obviously, if you aren't pulling your weight this isn't the case and in consulting at FTI and other firms, there are bad jobs, long hours, lots of travel and sometimes bad managers. It's important to align yourself with the right people at FTI.

Cons

Coming from a Big Four environment, you definitely see a difference and attention to the bottom line. There's a feeling that we're all just employees and could be cut at anytime. The firm has recently made some cuts to it's employee benefit plans which has left many with a sour taste. We understand needing to cut costs but at the expense of their number one asset, their people, it seems unfair. It often feels like decisions and communications are made based on what FTI thinks analysts expect and not what is necessarily best for the firm. FTI's training programs are severely lacking and their HR department is laughable.

Pros

FTI provides opportunities for growth, so long as an employee is willing to put in the time and effort. The firm has been growing quite quickly and while there is not much integration between groups, managment is looking to fix things. Compensation is good, Benefits are good and most imporatantly, the colleagues you interact with on a daily basis make FTI a great place to work.

Cons

In any client service position there will be times that the personal life takes a back seat to the goals of the project or the client, but anyone who enters the industry should know that. Inconsistency of feedback and evaluations can sometimes be frustrating.
