Great place to work

Pros

FairWarning is a unique technology company. Finding a software development company that is local to Tampabay and has everyone in one building is unheard of in other companies. FairWarning is tackling some of the hardest business problems and working with the latest technologies to solve them. It is a demanding fast paced culture but it is very rewarding. Knowing that the product we build helps protect people's information is a great feeling. The company as a whole is aligned to make the customer successful. The politics between teams that I have seen at other companies does not exist here. Since the whole company is in one location, it makes for easy communication between teams. I will often get stopped in the hallway or break room with a question or an idea from another team. The people here are some of the best I have ever worked with. While the company is demanding it does reward individuals. While money is not my main reason for working at FairWarning, it is something that can't be ignored. I have been compensated very well financially and get company wide recognition for my accomplishments. The inclusive culture keeps the teams from becoming silos. There are monthly events sponsored by the company to give the teams a way to interact outside the office. The company has fun events for different holidays throughout the year. The field day event in the summer brings out the competitiveness in everyone. Overall, you will not find another place like FairWarning where each individual can have an impact on and be part of the company's success.

Cons

It is demanding and fast paced. This is not where you come to work if you don't want to be held accountable. When you sign up for a task you have to deliver.

FairWarning - My Experience

Pros

First let me say that I really enjoy coming to work here everyday. I am going to list all the pros of why this is such a great work environment, I am also going to be honest about the cons, which they are some. Most importantly, the people they have hired are fantastic. FairWarning's extensive vetting process really pays off most of the time. When I come to work, I am happy to say that I partner alongside some truly great and loving people (yes there are some bad apples like anywhere else). I understand that this is a business, and we are getting business done, but at the end of the day, its about who you spend your time with, and I am very blessed to be surrounded by such great, intelligent, and hardworking peers. They constantly push me to be better, and I feel like they actually care about those around them. Second is the environment by management. Every company has a work hard play hard mentality, its not original. What I appreciate about FairWarning is how much they trust you, in the sense of the work day. They don't force you to work hard, they more expect it. On top of that when you're surrounded by other people who work hard, it becomes a company culture. They are very lenient with PTO, vacation, lunch, and work in general. There is no constant harassment. They trust you to be professional, and I really appreciate that. Again this is my experience may be different for other departments. The CEO, Chief Cultural Officer, and HR take the time to give back. This can be awesome leadership events, sending you to see Tony Robins, bringing in industry experts, and planning really fun outside work events. The CEO and CCO are genuine people, they care about you, and are even more fun outside of work. This is a private company, so if you aren't used to that kind of environment it may take some adjustment. To summarize, great people, great culture, and great executive leadership.

Cons

I can't speak too much to other departments, I'm in sales, but I have heard mostly good things from employees in other parts of the business. There has been a lot of change in sales, new management, new strategies, changes in structure. Don't get me wrong, the cloud security business has been doing great, huge growth last year. Especially since the Enterprise Vice President came on board to assist with the sales. He is definitely in the pros section. One of the most brilliant and genuine people you will ever meet. In terms of cons, the healthcare side is a slower more complex sales cycle, but the commissions are massive. The Sales manager is very organized, and has been at FairWarning in various roles. He can come off as intimidating, so if you can't handle public criticism this probably wont be the Sales environment for you. While I do respect him, I really wish he made more of an effort to connect with his team. Sometimes I feel as if he sees us as more of a sales tool, then valued members who he wants to see succeed and grow. Do you think employees who like their manager are going to work harder than those who only fear him? You have some really great people here, if you take care of them, they will take care of your customers better than ever, and make you look like a rockstar manager. Additionally lots of promotions were promised and hinted for sales but I have only seen two since being here.

Thanks so much for the feedback, FairWarrior. We’re glad to hear you’re enjoying collaborating with your team and others. While our vetting process is lengthy, we really do try to find the best cultural and overall fit for the team and we’re glad to hear it’s working. A big strategic initiative of the People Team this year is to focus on streamlining and consistency with development plans and team member growth. We’re glad to hear this is something you’re looking for and are excited to continue our progress with this imitative throughout the year. We really appreciate and encourage you to continue staying open and honest with feedback for FairWarning.

Pros

Great people and culture. Awesome product at the top of the industry, and management is dedicated to reinvesting in its development. I came to the company in an entry-level sales role and was able to move to a role that better suits me within a year. I look forward to continuing along my career path here.

Cons

As with any growing company, there are bumps on the way. It's a private, family-owned company, so if you're used to a corporate structure, it'll be an adjustment. If you're used to sales but don't have experience in the healthcare industry, be aware that deals can take months to years from initial contact to close, but the payoff is big when they do come in.
