I used to think it might be a scam

Pros

Actually serving clients and making sure they don't leave debt behind is my favorite part of my job. Payments come in quick, and can really help the agent grow. Training is more in depth than any insurance company I ever worked for. I am responsible for my own leads, this is a benefit as it means I can choose to work with the best leads on my own terms rather than some corporate decision

Cons

You have to call a lot of people. Clients can sometimes be rude. Not every agency group has good training and respectable leaders, so do try to find a good leader/trainer if your considering joining FFL.

Pros

Good culture, lots of basic training on demand, online. Low cost opportunity to start your own business part-time or full time. You can recruit others and build an agency if your own.

Cons

Not really con's, just my exoerience here - successful agents doing the training or sharing success stories are 1 out of 50 or maybe 100. 92% of agents don't stay in the industry very long as a whole. I think those #s are true here too. Most people that get licensed and join quit within a few months. It's all about putting the effort in. Starting up your business in this industry as an independent agent? Expect to buy cheap older leads 1-3 months old, make hundreds of "dials" (50-100 leads/names) per day for the telesales approach every day. For the in-home sales approach, make hundreds of dials 2 days per week to set appointments for the other 3 or 4 days running those appointments in people's homes. The agents doing really well making more than $100K/year admit they are working days and nights and weekends. Once you get the hang of it, you can be confident in buying newer or new more expensive leads, making less dials and getting better results. No training on generating your own leads with social media. Company sells leads too which is convenient and occasionally suggests you buy leads from several vendors to get a mix of leads.
