Pros

Plenty of room to learn. Relaxed atmosphere. Remote work (Might be changed later).

Cons

Some employees will not/are unable to help you with questions (Knowledge and attitude is questionable). On Call system (May have to work weekends and throughout the night). Meetings, so many meetings. No guidance (in my experience with no knowledge on the specific task) on how to do your job. They also expect you to be a complete self starter and understand what will need to be done in each sprint and come up with your own tasks for each sprint when usually (from what I've been told) to more senior members would assign you tasks to allow more structure.

Pros

People are friendly, positive, and focused on business material matters.

Cons

Software developers are second class citizens. The technology is awful. Due to frequent use of desktop-as-a-service, developers face daily operational problems like lag and environment issues. This is not considered a priority by managers. This problem is compounded by software misconfigs and inconsistent development environments. In addition, computers are completely locked down, so fixing OS misconfigs can be slow. Also, there is a lack of improvement mindset (with respect to code and software quality). Issues that could easily be fixed go unresolved because "the business" doesn't seem to care about anything outside of their narrow viewport, and developers just sorta follow along. Technical leadership does not exist in any material sense. Attempts come off as insincere.

Pros

Great benefits and good work life balance.

Cons

Compensation is lacking across the board so people are leaving left and right. This isn’t a bad place to start a career, but it isn’t the best choice financially especially if you live in DC and want to raise a family.
