Pros

- Worked independently - Telecommuting was possible when not on site - Hands off approach - Company Car and gas

Cons

- Raises and bonuses were based on customer reviews which would be lack luster based on situations beyond your control including the insureds frustration when subrogation was not feasible - When I was hired, we created our own schedules allowing us to schedule claims in regional areas together during a day. During my time at Farmers, they changed this policy and started having a representative in a call center schedule our claims for us. This commonly resulted in driving several cities apart reducing efficiency.

Pros

Freedom, unlimited income potential, own your own book, many products to sell, Name recognition, solid claims service, pretty good training.

Cons

Long hours for the first 5-6 years, constant rate change, slow and inadequate systems, constant change of big picture, little to no accountability with service point or tech support.
