Pros
Opportunity for advancement has always been visibly attainable, but requires hard work. Innovative minds excel if they can also effectively sell their ideas. There is an emphasis on mentoring and coaching for those who seek it out. The desire must be there, though.
Cons
There is still some "who you know" is better than "what you know" mentality. Too many long-term employees set in their ways and not adaptive to change. The industry changes, and we need to also. Makes progress difficult sometimes, but that is starting to turn more favorably.
