      Great People, but Changing Focus at the Top

      Pros

      The collegial atmosphere is wonderful, and there is a strong focus on doing things right. Flexible hours allow you to balance your work/home responsibilites. Very stable until recently.

      Cons

      Recent layoffs have really hurt morale. Not a lot of upward opportunities, as lots of senior supervisors have been with the company a long time. When senior positions do open up, they tend to hire from the outside rather than promote from within. IT is not up to industry standards, and the layoffs hit that department really hard. And the IT help desk seems to be in India - huh?

      Pros

      If you're someone that enjoys a highly political status quo environment then Farmers is probably a good place for you. The financial engineering of Farmers Group has enabled it to make money so there isn't much of a need for innovation and this creates a low key work environment.

      Cons

      Little desire to find a better way to do things. The politics of the organization reward tenure over intellect. Not a good place for younger employees looking for career paths.

      pay is decent, give you tools you need, fellow employees are all friendly and easy to work with

      Cons

      overoworked, not able to have a good work life balance, management struggles with keeping employees satisfied.
