Pros

Good pay and benefits. Daily work consists of a wide range of problem solving that varies from day to day. Great company culture that focuses on solving issues rather than finding blame. I personally love the flat organization and the faster development timelines which leads to less "red tape" and less analysis paralysis. Virtually all coworkers are very competent and have good attitudes. Good efforts for charities and cultural outreach programs. Flying everyone out for an annual group meeting does great things for not feeling isolated to your site.

Cons

Code leans towards "fast and dirty". Capacity for furthering/continuing education is limited to literally <4 hours during the annual meeting once per year.

Pros

- Benefits and pay - Free health insurance - Paid overtime, which is pretty silly at these salaries - Good standard raises and higher ones if you do a good job and it gets noticed. Reviews are based on a number ranking system (1 to 10, 1 being best). Average is of course 5 which translates to roughly 6% raise - a better rating will land you a 10%-15%+ raise as it goes higher but those are saved for only the best. - Work is challenging but reasonable and there is support from smart folks - Everyone gives a damn for the most part - Talent is generally evaluated well and folks are given what they can handle. Even if someone is not a super star they can be given appropriate tasks to take ownership of. - A cute bonus system that doesn't matter to most employees - Profit sharing to 401k (basically 2-3% match)

Cons

They changed how they used to handle salaries with relocation (home base, moving bonus) and the change is definitely for the better (higher starting salary, nothing special for relocation) - however some folks were caught in the transition in 2013 and got screwed on being grandfathered in. We got a bump but it was not as much if we would have had the original moving allowance merged into our base salary. I only know this having talked to other folks who started at the same time and weighing similar raises as a percentage, I'm making less (about $10k less a year). Still, the change they made is for the better and is more fair, but no one likes to feel secretly screwed - and since I only know this having talked to other people about their salaries (a no no unfortunately even though it's protected by labor law) I can't bring it up to management. Plus we already make pretty silly salaries, so do I really need to put my position at risk by asking for an extra $10k? Then you become "that person".

Thank you for your review. We are pleased to hear that your overall sentiment to FAST is positive. After five years with the company, we hope you know HR and Partners have an open-door policy and you will take advantage of one of the many avenues we offer to have conversations regardless of the topic. Decisions and changes to salaries and benefits at FAST are driven by many factors, including fairness and employee feedback. The transition you discussed is from 2013 and is no longer relevant. Each year, FAST management considers a few fundamental questions for each FASTie, including: 1) What is the value of their contribution to FAST, and 2) Among those making a similar contribution, are there any salary discrepancies that are unreasonable and need to be adjusted? In other words, subsequent years would’ve compensated for any discrepancy based on the merits of the employee’s work. Ultimately, our desire is for FASTies to focus on making the best contribution they can and awarding employees fairly and consistently for those contributions. The intentions of FAST are to continue to reward employees for their hard work and dedication and the FAST Partners are thrilled to be able to continue these notable benefits to employees for more than 20 years. If you have questions about the specifics of your own situation, please feel free to contact HR or a Partner.

Pros

Best place I have ever worked. The company takes great care of their employees and there is great morale throughout the company. The work is satisfying especially when people begin to use your code after a rollout.

Cons

Tax software may not be the most interesting to some people.
