Pros

Great coworkers, great customers, recognized brand, a culture that recognizes that employees are important. Anyone who interacts with customers, sales or operations, will probably do anything they can to try to give a great experience.

Cons

Ever increasing job load, always decreasing resources. Poor service and real problems with billing and pricing systems, low margins don't allow anything to ever be fixed. Feels like no one is running the company, there's no clear vision or leader. Upper management=lifetime cheerleaders, no innovation or strong ideas

Sales at FedEx

Pros

Different businesses you come across makes the job interesting Good reputation and strong brand power

Cons

High volume of customer service calls due to lack of support resources Sales role is no longer selling, but rather maintenance and retention. As sales professional, you are the main point of contact-for everything. From collections, invoicing questions and disputes, to non productive pickups/operational issues within FedEx, to the customer you are their tech support resource, pickup coordinator, invoicing dispute channel, package tracker due to poor resources allocated to help the sales professional. Car allowance program removed for sales, minimal home internet reimbursement. Variable compensation/bonus structure ever changing, constantly a moving target from quarter to quarter. Often times variable comp is impacted by things outside of the control of sales professional with few opportunities to correct due to adjustment approval process. The amount of internal battles fought on behalf of the customer is often times harder than bringing on new business.

Great Place to Start

Pros

Very good job security; it's nearly impossible to get fired due to poor performance. Excellent place for out-of-college students to learn and practice a skill.

Cons

FedEx doesn't practice CI/CD at a production-level. They are too scared of disrupting the business and as a result have too much red tape involved in pushing code to a production environment. They want their employees to move quickly, but restrictions on getting your code to production makes this impossible. You'd be lucky to have a deployment every 2 weeks. Average programmer is decent, the better employees tend to leave. 2 weeks vacation for Services employees. Management gives praise, never a raise.
