Pros

Location (for Boston Employees), multiple fringe benefits. Some good middle managers. It really depends which part of Fidelity you work for though - FMR is the way to go with less likelihood of being outsourced or down sized.

Cons

Lack of opportunity for career advancement in IT. Locations (non-Boston). There is an unspoken expectation in some departments that you will work above your normal hours and not complain or expect any compensation for the time.

Pros

Fidelity has a great retirement plan, great health insurance choices, and can change jobs internally with little difficulty. As a salary person you start off with three weeks of vacation and after five years you get four.

Cons

Working for a private company has both its ups and downs, sometimes you have no idea what top management will do. If the owner has a strange dream we might be starting a new business. Sometimes the pay at Fidelity can be less then at other companies.
