Pros
The company is doing very well globally. Business is generally booming and the company is now a global player in its industry. The product set is excellent. For cash equities Fidessa is THE trading platform and they are now moving into multi asset classes. Senior management are very capable and lead the company well. There is tight control over the business in general and fools are not suffered glady! The staff there do make the company though. There re some exceedingly intelligent, diligent, dedicated and thoroughly decent people working there (they have a very good recruitment record). There is a good social scene (for those that want to take advantage). The company Christmas party is always good fun and there is a group of people who frequently organise and run companywide social events. Chris Aspinwall is an excellent CEO.
Cons
There can be limited career progression in some roles. Some people get to move around to different jobs but as the company only numbers around 600 in the UK that doesn't give a huge amount of scope. They tell everyone who applies that there are opporunities for foreign travel but the reality is that very few people get to travel. And when they do they certainly do so at the budget end. No Business Class even on long haul flights. The benefits package offered by the company isn't so good compared to others. You get health care and that's about it. No company car scheme (apparently there used to be one but they cancelled it). There's no car allowance either. Annual leave allowance is poor for a UK company. You start at 23 days and cannot earn more than a maximum of 25 days. Management can sometimes forget that many people have a life outside of work. The company is growing tremendously and they have some very talented people working there but often their time is taken for granted. Many people (myself included) work many more hours than required and for no paid overtime.
