Sales focused without being allowed to say it's sales focused. Micromanaged to the 10th degree. They add and add and add to your job duties but without the financial compensation. Pay increase is roughly 2-3% each year which does not keep up with the cost of living. They do not allow you to have outside employment without consent but they will never consent to it. As a Banker you will always be a teller bc the branches never have enough tellers to keep the line staffed. I've worked in the Cincinnati, Dayton, North, and the Indianapolis market. If you're good at doing a lot with minimal pay that this really isnt the job for you. You're best bet is to job skip in the industry to make more money or get your licenses to go into private banking or investments. It use to pay to be licensed when you were only a PB but that went out the door when they starting have preferred bankers, investment bankers and private bankers. They want you go grow the book of business and then the second there's a client that has the money they take it out of your BOB and you're required to make it up. Also, the calling, LORD the calling. And a lot of times you're cold calling people. And people dont want to hear from their bank unless there's an issue they need to be made aware of. You become a telephone marketer which is so grimy and customers hate it. You spend so much of your time making calls for new account or new products being opened up that to actually grow a BOB, it's useless. They are suppose to have 'call blocks' to allow for the calling but good luck actually doing that. And training is elearnings that do nothing. Just a lot of skipping through slides. We use to actually go downtown and do hands on training where you were in a classroom with an instructor. Without that training you have to learn from others in the branch bc the elearning do nothing. And compliance compliance compliance. Make sure you can budget for the hours to be constantly completing more and more compliance. Truthfully it goes Teller, PB1, PB2, FCM. Little opportunity for assistant manager and the stress on the FCM's isn't worth it.
