      Nice organization and people--but in process of a merger

      Pros

      As a veteran retail banker, this bank treats its employees better than most. It lacks the "micro-management" culture that I had become so used to; rather, it places a high value on building client relationships and offering superb customer service. Branch employees are expected to sell, but product-pushing doesn't exist here.

      Cons

      First Citizens Bank and Trust Company, headquartered inhoping some of the ProsColumbia, SC, is merging with its sister bank, First Citizens Bancshares, headquartered in Raleigh, NC. Not sure at this time what the new organization will look like, but hope that some of the Pros above remain unchanged.

      Pros

      Good work/life balance. Lots of vacation time right off the bat. Ability to work remote. Not much micro managing. Corporate head quarters is conventionally located.

      Cons

      Not always using the latest and greatest tech, but getting better. Company is a little old fashion and conservative, but maybe not a bad thing for a bank to be. Some older employees have no clue what they are doing and i question how they got hired in the first place. Sometimes bank is very hesitant to fire people.
