Pros

For early-career software engineers, Flatiron provides an environment that fosters rapid professional growth. There are ample opportunities for those who are self-motivated and eager to climb the career ladder swiftly. The company offers stimulating challenges that not only boost technical expertise but also provide hands-on experience. The vibrant and tight-knit culture adds an enjoyable dimension to the workplace.

Cons

As employees progress into more senior engineering or managerial roles, the company's limitations become apparent. Autonomy in decision-making is notably lacking, with a top-down approach prevailing where the leadership is perceived as the sole authority on all matters. Diverging opinions or alternative perspectives from the established leadership stance are sometimes met with unwelcome consequences, creating an atmosphere where expressing dissent can feel risky. This dynamic can potentially breed a sense of frustration and disengagement among senior staff members.

Pros

- Really good perks within the office - Great team overall with a manager that cares - Very good time off policy - Fairly decent pay but could be better

Cons

- Executive and moreso the CEO have tendencies to create more challenges for our team by giving us extra work in short notices without extra resources or without our input. - Employees in general have a fairly bad habit of working with techops in general and constantly demand white glove service when we don’t have the resources to do so - Remote options are good unless you’re in certain departments, then you’re forced to be in the office just cause less than 10 percent of people like being in the office weekly - Hard to take time off without feeling guilty about work piling up for coworkers cause of lack of resources

Pros

As a part-time employee you are able to work at any time of day and any days of the week you wish as long as you achieve the minimum weekly time requirement. This allows for a lot of flexibility. Although the trade off is a lower wage.

Cons

In the end, you are only a number as there are around 1500 abstractors. There is no way to speak directly on the phone with staff as everything is done online. It is highly impersonal. HR extremely unprofessional.
