Obvious lack of leadership capabilities
Pros
Permanent remote work; non-management staff is great to work with
Cons
There is a complete misalignment of direction between C-Suite leadership and the efforts the VP/Director level give to the teams. It doesn't seem that the highest level of leadership actually knows what's going on within the team. We have "chief engineers" that may know technical items well, completely lack an understanding of how to run projects, yet constantly override project team decisions. Recent layoffs and sending of jobs offshore have really hurt morale and made collaboration on projects extremely difficult and inefficient. Compensation is far below average for the industry, and there is little room for growth. Even when the company was actively growing, management level hires were always external without even a marginal internal search. The bonus schedule contains a quota of employees by gender in order to get paid the full bonus
