Pros

I’ve built great friendships and they were the only things that made the experience bearable.

Cons

Management is terrible, lazy and absolutely rude. They are also very selfish and do not care about employees and the troubles they face while working due to limited resources and help. As long as the managers are happy (which usually consist of them eating and watching sports games in the back office), they do not care about how their employees and store is being ran. On top of everything, if you ask for an ounce of help you get degraded and there is a noticeable shift in the manager’s attitude towards you. Corporate and Human Resources are practically useless because they redirect your concerns back to your manager in hopes that you can solve the issues yourself, but all that does is create more issues. If I could give this company less than one star, I would.

Don't get sick!

Pros

Some of the folks are hardworking and put their blood, sweat, and tears into the company and get nothing out of it. They are usually such nice people who and are lovely to work with.

Cons

They do not approve of unions. Pay was $10.00/hr. Not worth my time. God forbid you get sick, they will try to make you come in. Even when Covid was at a peak in the beginning of 2021, they gave me no time to test for Covid and wanted me back at work immediately (blatant disregard for health of employees and even the community. The manager was Anti-Vax and would never wear their mask properly, even when asked to do so. Management threatened my job when I didn't come in for 2 days, even though I called out and had my shifts taken by someone else. Made to stand for hours at the end of your isle just to "look professional." Time could be better spent getting off feet and letting the workers have some time to rest, but they instead pay you dirt and treat you worse than dirt. Food Lion claims their people are caring about the community, but most employees disregard public safety when it comes to wearing masks.

The pros for working at Food Lion at least at my location is great staff, consistent hours, and very easy to understand job.

Cons

The cons for working at Food Lion is working during the holidays, constant call outs, biased management, understaffed, and improper training.
