Pros

Remote work. Excellent for people who have social anxiety or difficulty commuting. Generous PTO. 190+ hours per year. It's a good first job when you are new to the industry. Paid training and equipment are provided. Very inclusive. Generous matching for 401k. My direct supervisor was great.

Cons

Benefits are EXTREMELY expensive. Exceeding 1/3 of your take home pay for one person. The medical exam to get the less expensive plan is more invasive than what most pilots go through to get their medical certificates to fly and it is still very expensive. For a global medical management company, it's absurd to charge so much for health insurance. Raises are offensively low. Just enough to put you into the next tax bracket so you actually take home LESS. Even with a perfect annual review. My first year, my raise was 3% despite a 13% increase in national col. Most recent raise was less than. 1%. Wide Inconsistencies in quality control. It was not uncommon to submit work to quality control, have it sent back with corrections, make those corrections and resubmit only to have it sent back with those corrections marked as wrong because it was a different person that checked it. Unsustainable productivity goals. It's understandable that you want work to be consistent but there is no concessions made for people who end up with extremely difficult case loads while others had relatively mundane case loads. Everyone is expected to close a certain number of cases per day. It is just not always possible. Software and server problems are rampant. The call center software can slow your work down to a crawl. Timekeeping processes need to updated. Relying on a web based program to track your time doesn't work if that program is constantly logging you out. It leads to unwarranted occurances and unnecessary calls, emails etc to defend yourself when that system consistently likes to say you left two hours early or logged in late...or even not at all. Many of us have gmer package internet service...highest speeds available t a residential address and still had issues. If your peripherals are not ergonomically correct, you are instructed to buy your own. Most recently was a switch from Cisco to Jabber when the team was sent headsets that A: Didn't work and B: were poorly fitting and often painful to wear. Being instructed to "reach out" if you are having difficulty with a case. But then receiving no actual assistance.

Pros

Fortrea is agile….though mostly in one very specific way: reorganizing. If you enjoy watching management and org charts get reshuffled every six months, they’ve mastered that kind of nimbleness. Beyond that, don’t expect meaningful agility in operations, decision-making, or delivery.

Cons

The organization is now full of “turtles on fence posts” people perched in senior roles (ED, VPs) without a clear path or experience that justifies how they got there. Meanwhile, the real fires, the operational issues that directly affect clients and delivery, continue burning unchecked under them. Leadership is disconnected from the actual problems happening on the ground.

Pros

Work life balance is decent for some.

Cons

Fortrea is willing to cut corners and sacrifice quality in order to save a buck, while being dishonest to sponsors regarding the skills of their employees. This takes the form of replacing current experienced employees with the experience and training to conduct successful trials with those who do not even know what a clinical trial is but are willing to accept a low-wage to "perform" the job. Re-work should be expected for sponsors choosing to work with Fortrea, with the possibility of having to switch to another CRO who will be able to effectively run the project. I would stay away from this company, both for potential employees as well as sponsors.
