Pros

Management training classes were very helpful, HR Department very supportive, Organized systems to ensure consistency, hiring personality types that are not only well qualified to accomodate others, but also make great co-workers and a positive environment-all with the common goal to serve guests, meet standards and face challenges with a positive attitude. Most people are very happy with their jobs, especially line employees-less so for management.

Cons

Scheduling salaried/management to work unreasonable hours in numerous departments- such as a night shift ending at 12am followed by a morning shift starting at 4am, then expected to work a 10 hour shift in a high maintenance environment that requires a positive attitude that can be a struggle on 3 hours of sleep a few times a week. Upper management more concerned with labor cost than work/life balance. No real break- just a cafeteria hour on site. Unsupportive and rude food service supervisor, and training can be a bit cult-like. I was told that the Austin location is run very differently than the other hotels and our negative circumstances were not company-wide.

Cons

Very, very long hours. Hotels never sleep!
