An Amazing Place to Work

Pros

I have been with the business over 5 years. The company has fully supported my progress within the business over this time, both personal development and development to the benefit of the company. I love working here. I work with an amazing team, both my direct team and the wider business are filled with amazing people. My direct team and management are supportive and we check in weekly how everybody is and what we can do better/what we have done well. If there is something wrong, we do something about it, if something has been done well, we make sure it is recognised. Within our team we try to make other members of the business aware of when they have done something that has made our working lives easier, its nice to focus on the good rather than always the bad. The business has grown considerably in my time with the Fourth, there is always room for progression and recognition and reward is in my opinion second to none. There are many benefits, Summer and Christmas parties which are always well executed and reward schemes to reward individuals for their hard work. As the majority of the employees within the Cheshire office drive, rather than Friday drinks as the London office do, we have a monthly breakfast club and a fun club that hosts fun events for employees. We have wellness events and free fruit in the office twice weekly. As the business has grown, the business has recognised the need internally for employee training and introduced new measures to ensure all employees are in the know. We have quarterly updates keeping us in the loop of the companies current obligations/goals/achievements/issues, these are open and honest and welcome feedback which the execs respond to directly.

Cons

Sometimes things within the business are allowed to get to an all time low before something is done about it, in the past Fourth has been pretty reactive rather than proactive - i think this has changed considerably within the past 12 months but more can be done to keep on with this and we should continue to progress processes to ensure we are more pro-active. We need to be prepared and know our business well to be able to keep our customers happy.

Really great advice and something we must continue to practice as well as preach! Thanks for a great and balanced review and pleased that you have noticed our commitment to employee development and better communication. We aren't quite there yet but certainly on the right path. Best Wishes, Jon Walder

This was great to read! We really do care and it is nice to see this does not go unnoticed (few double negatives there but you get the idea). If we all stay on mission and values focused we can ahieve a lot. Great advice! Take care, Jon Walder

Pros

- Great people to work with - Best of the best locations in London

Cons

I don't want to get you (yes, you that might be making a decision to start working at Fourth) bored with techy stuff, but as developer, and as a company that sells software (even tough the CEO thinks different), bear in mind that there are some really old legacy stuff in there, some new things that can be challenging, but nothing that will keep you interested more than 1~2 years. Being said that, I want to address something else: Reading the CEO of a software selling company saying "The tech criticism is boring and if you can’t hack it, go elsewhere" made my jaw drop and roll away from my chair. The company should take these reviews to learn, not as personal attack from developers that left the company. Last words... Mr Hood, software developers love what they do, and if they come to this site to read a review about the company they expect to see some "boring" tech criticism, because they will coding for you (hopefully) the next couple of years, and it is your work to make them feel challenged and not boring. Good luck AD Another Dev that left under the immense pressure, lack of fulfillment of promises, and old boring tech.

We’ve always listened and learnt from constructive views and opinions. It’s imperative we do. I love tech and our products, some older, some state of the art, but I also love Fourth and what we do for our clients. I said I was bored with the tech ‘criticism’ nothing else. We’ll strive this end to move forward and learn where we can. Hope you find something that suits! Mr Hood
