Pros

I have worked at Frontage Labs for just over a year now, and I think its a great place to work. Hours are flexible which is good especially because I am currently finishing up school. Also, the lab is small so it isn't super overwhelming. I like the overall environment. The starting pay is also very reasonable, and I have received raises as appropriate. I feel I am compensated very fairly for my work.

Cons

Training is lackluster, it takes a while to learn the ways of the lab due to lack of help from my peers. I ask many questions in order to properly understand expectations. In addition, I did have issues with negativity in my department. I encountered bullying from a fellow technician as soon as I began. I will say that HR was extremely kind and helpful in sorting out the problem. I am passionate about my line of work and so I can overlook these minor thorns.

Pros

- Opportunity for growth, if provided, is tremendous. - Fast-paced company with many moving parts. Great place to learn a lot. - Depending on the group, there is room for independent work and also room to manage and direct. - Good place for hard-working individuals who appreciate systematic, continuous work.

Cons

- Lack of established career path. - Growth is not always merit-based, depends on connectivity or momentary need. - Management is reactive to employee loss. Extremely high turnover in higher levels (Directors, VPs). - Scientists are overworked (common for most CROs though), working overtime. Budgets are unpredictably pinched. Salespeople are former scientists, but untrained in sales management. - Processes are undefined. Often unclear. Constantly changing. - Lack of respect for teams, employee morale low, lack of employee appreciation, and missing internal communications. Diversity is minimal.

Pros

None. I would not recommend this place for work.

Cons

- Toxic Work Environment - Everyone is micromanaged by a single person in management leading to a toxic work environment for fellow colleagues - There are no "Team Bonding Initiatives" to help get fellow colleagues get to know one another and help create an inclusive environment - Asking for help or even helping others is frowned upon by management - Work-life balance is all Work and no Life. You're there for about 10-11 hours a day hoping your run passes and that's if you're even lucky enough to get a chance to check your instrument for your run to meet acceptance criteria - There's an astonishingly lack of a safety culture here. At one point a >200kg tool cabinet fell on top of one of my colleagues with management in the room and they didn't even bother to help this colleague who could've potentially had serious injuries. No investigation was performed or any resolutions to prevent this from happening again.
