Pros
FullStack Labs is a top-notch software shop with one of the best teams I've had the pleasure to work with. Their business model is structured pretty well for their industry, which seems to lead to happy customers and happy teams. The way their projects are managed, time is tracked, and how employees are paid are all harmonious. Everybody carries a small bit of the weight and as a result, no one person has to bear any perceivable burden. Their transparency with employees and clients is a bit shocking at first but without question feels like the correct way to operate. There's not much red-tape. Need to create a new app? Do it. Need to spin up a new server? Go ahead. Need to work from home to wait for a delivery? Just let the team know. There's typically no need to submit a form, get sign-off, or otherwise prevent work from getting done. Everybody has a title, but I'm not sure I know most of them. What becomes more important is the role everybody takes for a given project. I might be a developer on one project and a lead on another. Employees seem to be pretty well matched to their projects and roles and are set up for growth. There aren't really "classes" of employees where one person is perceived as more important as another. The tech is fresh but not ridiculous. Most of the tech we use is "new" but far enough from the bleeding edge where we avoid a lot of wasted cycles. That said, there's not really a "we always use X", so there are plenty of projects using variations of tech in an effort to find out what seems to work the best.
Cons
One downside to having a company which is ~98% software engineers is that you have to be good at speaking up if you need something. Generally, nobody is going to tap you on the shoulder and ask if you'd like a different mouse, coffee, or projects. This puts the burden on you to shape the environment around what you need. That being said, I've personally never had or heard of any request to improve the environment declined.
