Pros

Super great people to work with. If real life issues pop up, taking a partial day or whatever isn't a huge issue. Vacation isn't officially tracked and is one of those "unlimited" things. Make sure you take vacation.

Cons

The only real con is the pay. GE is far below what I would be making just about anywhere else. Benefits other than the vacation I'd say are average.

Low pay

Pros

People are nice, job can be interesting depending on the role

Cons

Low pay for the job and industry ($73.5k). I expected GE to offer a lot more ($85K+) after reading reviews and speaking with current GE employees who even told me how much they were making and the minimum I should be making was $85k-$95k. Salary is based on Cincinnati, OH COL even though the job is located in Evendale, OH which is about 20-30min away. Evendale is very expensive whereas Cincinnati is very cheap. Also, no clear career progression and salary increases. Current friends who have worked at GE for many years have still struggled to get promotions and rely on ~2% salary increases, not even enough to keep up with inflation or the salaries of new grads at different companies. Their low salary increases could be a reason they don't pay new grads more because they don't want to pay existing employees less so they underpay for the market. Overall, it seems like if you join GE, just be prepared to leave for a different company after a few years for more competitive pay.

Pros

GE looks good on your resume… kind of. Starting to lose its credibility.

Cons

For Lynn Plant specifically. -Pay is far below market causing high attrition to other company’s in the area -Benefits are atrocious -Poor prioritization… whoever screams the loudest mentality -Antiquated site as a whole including buildings, facilities, and machinery. -Fire fighting is an all day everyday thing -Reactiveness is a way of life here -Leadership is delusional… they have the mentality that “GE is the greatest. Everyone wants to work here. People who leave will come back…” I’ve only seen people leave and continue to do so. Never seen anyone come back… -Technical talent on the manufacturing floor is limited. You have either new grads or rotational employees (OMLP) that don’t have a clue about manufacturing processes or basic root cause analysis. On top of that, the training isn’t there because even most “management” don’t have a clue either. This is largely due to attrition of actual talent. So now they promote the clueless OMLPs (I should know, I was in the program) because there is no one left that actually has a decent understanding of machining and manufacturing processes.
