      Hard work but lots of experience

      Pros

      Flexibility due to the dreaded timesheet Lots of different projects and a great way to build up experience Great way to create a long term network with some genuinely nice and competent people. Possibility to work with many different offices if you build up your reputation as a reliable hard worker

      Cons

      For the same role, there is a serious pay inequality between male and female. You will be offered shares only if you know the right people. Some shareholders still get dividends even when they are not actively contributing. Project managers get more rewards than the technical solving the issues Lots of extra unpaid hours, unless you are in a cushy business development role Old boys club.

      treated like a contractor with none of the perks of contracting

      Pros

      Some interesting projects (sometimes). Great people/colleagues. Nice office space/location.

      Cons

      Long hours, expectation to use leave as a timesheet filler when times are tough, no professional development (training, up-skilling- has to be 'on the job' and even then no allocation of additional time for this purpose). Very stressed out management most of the time, a generally unpleasant working environment on most days.
