Pros

Pay and benefits were very good Work life balance issues taken seriously Flexible work options were encouraged Educational and training opportunities provided on site are very good Efforts are being made to communicate business issues more openly

Cons

Reorganization of your department about every 18 months or so. Give the long-term impression that management doesn't know what it's doing. Frequent time wasted having to adapt to the "new" organizational structure every year and a half. Stealth cuts occurring in departments for several years. People just sudden;y disappear; hurts morale. Company insistence on forcing employees into "open space plan." Turns them into itinerant workers on site and damages morale.

Pros

The opportunities for training and promotion over the years have been broad. For the most part, the product portfolio has been rich and plentiful. Having a well resourced company to back your sales efforts in the field is very important. GSK has many valuable resources that it shares with the employees. The compensation plan is second to none. The benefit package is first class and will support you and your family throughout your career and beyond.

Cons

Because of the sheer size, the individual territory can become lost and misrepresented. When change is implemented it is top down with little input from those that will be most affected. The patent cliff and the putting up with the reluctance of the FDA to make new product approvals has stymied growth. That has led to fewer promotional opportunities and advancement. Representatives not challenged to sell, but to increase perceived customer value and do well on corporate exams, while managers are challenged to meet the corporate sales objectives and to not harass sales performance from representatives.

Pros

Benefits such as health insurance, dental, pension, etc Most of the employees are good hardworking people that want to do the right thing.

Cons

Inflexible Inconsistent Not family friendly I'm not sure who keeps voting for GSK as one of the Best Places to Work...it must be HR, because it most certainly is not. Does not understand work-life balance. Limited promotion and advancement opportunities Toxic environment due to continuous layoffs....the morale is very bad in the company.
