Pros

The company offers an excellent benefits package and work life balance, good opportunities for training. The company spends a lot of time and effort on maximizing the health and wellbeing of its employees. We have reimbursement for healthcare expenses and compensation for completing an annual health risk assessment questionnaire. We frequently are offered training sessions on healthcare topics. We have a generous amount of time off, and the retirment savings plan and medical, dental and vision care can't be beat.

Cons

our site keeps losing employees but rarely replaces them, which puts a heavy burden on the employees at the company.

Pros

Very dedicated, results-oriented organisation which is working to help improve people's lives. Many people stay with the company for a long time, even their whole careers. Very systematic and thorough performance review and development process; good support for advancement and development. Some international opportunities for certain roles. Compensation is competitive with other similar roles in Pharma or Consumer Healthcare companies.

Cons

Senior management sometimes behaves like an "old-lads club", and the personality cult can overshadow the straightforward focus on results at times. For this reason it can be a frustrating place to work for people who just want to do their job well.

Pros

Interesting work, smart, interesting people to work with. A chance to contribute to new medicines and improve healthcare. Good pay and benefits. The company is socially responsible both in terms of charity, and in terms of contributing to improved healthcare in the developing world.

Cons

A rolling reorganization has been running for 3 years now. Recent business setbacks have increased pressure on budgets even further. Some groups are in their 3rd or 4th round. Poor morale in those who are left following the preceeding series of cuts. No obvious plan for improving research output, but plenty of plans for cutting costs. R&D appears to be run by MBA's at this point. Currently GSK has the stability and security of a small company with the bureaucracy of a large company. Job advancement is limited by the fact that the company is contracting, but losing employees faster than managers.
