Pros

There is great value in accurately representing the benefits and limitations of pharmaceutical products. Physicians and patients need solutions to treat ailments and we meet that need. The benefits of a free car, free insurance, free gas,and good benefits is invaluable. The freedom from daily scrutiny by management is very valuable.

Cons

Glaxo uses its sales force as puppets. They have a tendency to stick their heads in the sand and repeat the same mistakes over and over again. The management is driving their best talent out the door. The company takes for granted the work that is required to be successful and does not fairly compensate for overtime. There is an overwhelming amount of stress associated with this company.

Pros

decent pay and good benefits.

Cons

Over the years, I found the company to be less transparent with their directions in regards to marketing the products and long term plans with marketing and sales of the brands. With the many FDA related issues pertaining to our products in the last several years, I found the company to be less open with the reasonings behind their decisons and strategies. Being an ethical pharmaceutical giant, head office has many policies on sales activites which regulates the sales staff in conducting business within the ethical pharma guidelines. However, these policies were not being followed by the staff mainly because pressures from the competition within and outside the company. The spirit of the ethical code is lost with the company.

Pros

GSK offers a competitive working environment that allows for many training opportunities. The company continues to find resources to allow employees to further enhance their skill set. GSK offers competitive pay and benefits. This is a good place to get some solid training to develop your career in pharmaceuticals for the long term.

Cons

Over the last few years the company has become more process oriented which stifles creativity and reduces an employees desire to take risks. The company has become more top down in their strategies to grow sales and could care less if their sales reps actually believe in the strategy. Should a sales rep dare state that a particular strategy or tactic is not effective they are labeled as negative and not willing to be a team player. Sales reps are also encouraged to provide positive feedback regarding these ineffective tactics which causes an "emporor has no clothes" situation. The process oriented environment when married with inability to speak up also causes a box checking attitude among employees. Employees spend more time worrying about checking the box versus actually improving results. The company has also moved from one which rewards people for positive outcomes to one that threatens. Threats are only usesful in the short term and that period faded out in 2007. People are tired of the threats and are no longer scared but instead are demotivated.
