Pros

Great brand Great benefits Nice facilities Good cafeterias Downtown San Francisco You can be out the door by 5:30pm if so inclined You don't have to be stuck at your desk all day: there are store visits, mock store meetings, comparative shopping trips, inspiration trips, etc.

Cons

Most people have a bad attitude. Management is incompetent, i.e. they don't know what is going on in the world of retail or business today. Very bureaucratic, lots of red tape, lots of favoritism, etc. If you are not willing to step on other people, you will not get ahead. if you try to affect change, you will get fired, demoted or ignored. No one wants to do what is best for the company, only what is best for them and requires the least amount of work. Those involved in office politics, management sucking up and general BS to show themselves off are rewarded.

Pros

fun atmosphere, lots of like-minded people, impressive employee discount program, flexible if given enough notice, many young and young-at-heart employees

Cons

managers were sometimes overly bossy and not explicit enough in task assignments, difficult to get shifts covered, black monday shopping is absolutely crazy

Pros

The only positive experience in my 2 year employment at gap was the opportunity to connect with others outside the company who are involved in the retail industry.

Cons

-some people do NOT want a gap card. this company will determine your worth by how many gap cards you can sell to customers each day -managers cannot make up their minds as to what takes priority on any given day -working for gap is a popularity contest -positive feedback is scarce -worst retail job i have EVER had.
