Pros

Gap looks good on your resume if you want a career in retail. Gap will offer you all the training and opportunities you want, but you will be expected to make some serious compromises. If you are a creative type you will find an outlet in this organization. Some of the best leaders I've ever known were people I met while working at the CSSC. Great benefits, great balance. I loved that I was able to volunteer at my kids' school during working hours without taking time off.

Cons

Gap is not likely to return to their former glory of the nineties. They were too slow to adapt, and the apparel retail industry has left them behind. Expect to wait a very long time for a supervisory opportunity. Gap makes it easy for you to work anywhere, anytime - which isn't always a good thing! Some of the worst leaders I've ever known were people I met while working at the CSSC. There are a great number of supervisors who were promoted into leadership roles a decade ago, but still have zero leadership skills.

Pros

Flexible schedules and an onsite cafeteria with a nice location. If you stay long enough you will be moved up the title chain.

Cons

pay is not competitive, there are little resources, very segregated teams with a "that's not my job" attitude. no paid family leave, no daycare resources.

Pros

Managers work hard and are invested in the success of their stores

Cons

GAP use to be an amazing brand to work for that had some of the best leaders in the industry. Now GAP is full of low talent leaders that use fear and intimidation to try and squeeze out results of a down ward spiraling company. Unrealistic expectations with very little resources and upper field leaders that are clueless to what happens in stores
