Pros

Amazing work-life balance in-line with the San Francisco lifestyle. Leaving at 4pm on a Friday was accepted, as was an hour-long lunch outside. Gap offers great benefits and its corporate headquarters have an amazing location. Excelling training programs.

Cons

Felt very stagnant and bureaucratic. While there was definitely room for growth, it was very formulaic, i.e. 1 years here, then moving to a division with more volume, 2 years, 3% raise, then consideration for a promotion, etc. The work was also very formulaic and after about 6 months I could plan my categories in minutes.

Pros

Working in dynamic environment with cross functional partnerships. Gap Inc is a very supportive culture, teaches "soft skills" and collaboration. Never a dull moment. Fast paced and fun environment.

Cons

Complacent culture. The talent people is diluted. People get away with stuff at Gap that other companies would not tolerate. Almost too "soft" a culture.

Pros

Management allows you to have very flexible work hours. They are very accomodating of your needs outside work (i.e family and outside life). Gap Inc is also a very socially responsible company and they put in a lot of effort and resoutces to ensure that workers in their factories are treated fairly and are paid a fair living wage. Also, due to the huge workload that they give you there is really a great opportunity to learn a lot through doing. Leadership is very competent and we have a lot of trust and respect in the job they are doing. They are also excellent at comminucating information down to the lower levels.

Cons

Gap Inc runs a very lean workforce at the headquarters. As such they give a lot of responsibility to individual contributors. Workload is huge. This means that there are a lot of late nights and long hours during certain busy times. Also, although they let you work independently, because the organization is so lean there are not too many opportunities to get promoted once you get past an entry level position. Gap inc is a very merchant driven company. As such they hold a lot of power over what happens on a day to day business. At times it feels like they wield too much authority over decisions and processes while the other functions are just forced to go along with their decisions.
