Pros

Gartner is, by and large, a very well run company with a strong management team led ably by Gene Hall. Minimal dysfunction, smart acquisitions, and deep integrity in the Research house. It's a strong, stable company with proportionally more smart people than dead wood.

Cons

I think Gartner needs to be able to evolve and transform more quickly to meet the changing needs of the IT market and the business-side consumer/decision-maker.

Pros

The salary, bonus, and benefits are absolutely wonderful. The offices provide free snacks to its employees. The number of days PTO is also a great benefit.

Cons

Management makes tons of mistakes and will not own up to any. Senior level management doesn't want to do any work. The travel policy is ridiculous. The budgets are horrible. Consultants can't rent cars, and senior level managements likes for the entire project team to stay in the same hotel. Senior level management constantly lies to clients. Oftentimes, they don't even know what they are talking about. I didn't perform well because I wasn't a good liar. This consulting firm is playing 'consulting' and their work is subpar.

Ok, but you need to be self-going.

Pros

The consulting branch Gartner is a great place for strong individuals. If you are a person that requires close guidance and supervision, you might not feel good there. Gartner has a great market reputation when it comes to research. For consulting, the market recognition is somewhat limited.

Cons

As many other firms, Gartner is very number-driven. If you are achieving your sales and revenue targets, you will have no problems, but if not, you might soon have an issue.
