Pros

Culture shift in last two years moving to more layers contributing ideas and identifying problems. Long term employees in abundance; teamwork is not just a word but an expectation and it makes everyone's job better.

Cons

Still executive layers heavy, culturally older Caucasian men rule. Some salary ranges don't make sense. Still working to recover from direct patient care workforce reduction from 3 years ago .

Improving, albeit slowly

Pros

Geisinger is a tremendously innovative organization (i.e. early adoption of EHR, ProvenCare, ProvenExperience, etc.). Dr. Feinberg is an extraordinary leader that has righted the ship in the right direction with focus on patient experience, employee engagement, new strategic planning approach, Lean, etc.

Cons

While the ship is heading in the right direction, the culture is improving too slowly as it is difficult to align and move 30,000 people. It's moving too slowly that our good people/leaders seem to be leaving while the poor leaders/performers stay.
